When I was a kid, I remember most of my family’s holiday gatherings centered around football. Our family would eat, visit, laugh, talk, eat more, watch football and even play football in the streets. My parents had ten acres, so all my cousins (mostly boys) and uncles would play football out in the field in front of our house. If we had our holiday dinners at another family member’s house, we’d play football out in the street.
Our holiday tradition also included watching the Rose Parade every New Year’s Day followed by the Rose Bowl in the afternoon. It’s always exciting to learn which college teams will play in the Rose Bowl and which of my friends will attend the game to cheer for their alumni team.
