MomiverseTV: May is National Water Safety Month | The Momiverse

When we moved to Arizona from Seattle, one of the things we knew would help us cope with the heat was having a swimming pool. With two little boys who weren’t very good swimmers, I was very concerned about their safety. Although they had already taken swim lessons, they still weren’t very good swimmers. Since we had a pool in the backyard, the boys also needed to learn about pool safety. One of our biggest rules: My boys are never allowed in the pool without adult supervision.

In recognition of the popularity of swimming and other water-related recreational activities in the United States, and the resulting need for ongoing public education on safer water practices, the month of May is recognized as National Water Safety Month.  May is National Water Safety Month.

In support of the National Water Safety Month, we want to remind you that wherever you and your family swim, be water aware. Follow all the rules, and make sure that there is adult supervision. Water safety is everyone’s responsibility.

We’ve compiled a list of resources to help you become more knowledgeable about water safety. We encourage you to use these resources in educating yourself, friends and family.
