From spa rookie to spa pro: Tips to prepare for a relaxing retreat

It’s no secret that I love going to the spa. As part of the Hot Mom Spa Squad, I’ve chatted with the team at Spa Week Daily about why I spa, taken advantage of the amazing events offered in my own area by the fabulous Arizona Spa Girls, visited numerous spas in my area, on my family vacations, and on girlfriend getaways. In fact, one of the most memorable events from any of my trips is usually my spa experience.

I’m fortunate to live in Scottsdale, Arizona – one of the spa meccas of the world, but I enjoy experiencing spa treatments whenever I travel. I especially love spas that incorporate local culture, natural surroundings and scenic beauty into their spa’s ambiance and facilities.

As Moms, we often look for simple, no cost ways to relieve stress, but every once in a while (or perhaps on a more frequent basis), we need to treat ourselves. I’d much rather give up other services or treats (cable TV, Starbucks, etc.) to afford a spa treatment. Whether you’re looking for budget-friendly, mid-range or splurge options, there’s a spa service for every budget.

Before I became a spa aficionado, there were tips and tools I learned through trial and error to get the most out of my treatments and complimentary services. Fortunately for you, the folks at Marriott created this handy infographic of spa tips. It even contains tips for the spa rookie and the non-spa goer.

You need this. Making time for yourself is priority number one, so just do it! After all, a happy mom means a happy family.

On your next vacation, let yourself escape into an atmosphere of relaxation and healing. Whether you’re a spa rookie or a spa pro, use the following tips to prepare for your next spa experience.
